FALL SKILLS SESSIONS

AND “A” TEAM TRYOUTS

 

Hello WHYLL Families,

We are pleased to announce details for both our fall skills sessions for U12 and U14 players, which will then be followed by “A” team tryouts.  Tryouts will either be held during the last week of October or the 1st week of November … we are currently working on securing a venue and the plan is to have a weeknight, and two weekend tryout sessions available (must make one). 

The skills sessions will be held again at Morley Elementary School. U14 will meet on Saturday afternoons from 1:30-3:00p.  U12 will meet Saturday mornings from 10:30 to Noon.  We are still working on determining if there will be enough volunteers available to have fall sessions for the U10 division.  Details regarding time and venue for the “A” team tryouts will be communicated in early October.  

Below are the details for the skills sessions:

AGE GROUPS (All 2023 season U14/U12 players):

  • U14 (DOB 9/1/2008 – 8/31/2010)
  • U12 (DOB 9/1/2010 – 8/31/2012)  

DATES:

  • U14 Skills Session Dates (ALL 1:30-3:00):  9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29
  • U12 Skills Session Dates (ALL 10:30-Noon):  10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29

LOCATION:  Morley Elementary School– 77 Bretton Road, West Hartford (Parking is behind school/ adjacent to fields)

COST:  The registration fee is $50 for U14, $35 for U12 (this cost includes the skills sessions and the tryout).

LACROSSE CHEST PROTECTOR FAQ

 

WHO:              All WHYLL (youth lacrosse) players

WHAT:            Players are now required to wear chest protectors that meet the new NOCSAE ND200 standard.

WHERE:          This will apply to all WHYLL practices and games

WHEN:            The requirement went into effect 1/1/2022

WHY:               To reduce the risk of commotio cordis

 

Please make sure your athlete has an approved chest protector before the spring season starts.  They can be found at all sporting goods stores that sell lacrosse equipment.
